Northamptonshire, 2020 - current
This plot of land links a collection of houses and a farm in rural Northamptonshire. The land owner identified an opportunity to develop the plot and Studio Hallett Ike worked with the client to sensitively design two new houses nestled within a field.
The proposal comprises of two separate family dwellings, designed to take the form of stable barns that speak to each other in form and setting, but retain privacy and space between them. Each house is designed around a longitudinal and efficient internal layout, allowing picture views from all key spaces across the surrounding countryside.
Pitched roofs and timber cladding introduce a tactile aesthetic that link the traditional stone barns and nearby agricultural buildings in contemporary fashion.
