ER Residence

London, UK. 2018 - 2020

For this refurbishment and extension of a Victorian terraced house in North London, Studio Hallett Ike sought to adapt the existing ground floor flat for growing family life. Working within stringent parameters, the design considerately adds a much needed bedroom, and sociable dining room. The previously cramped galley kitchen has been opened up and adapted, and is now an effortlessly fluid connection between the traditional reception room and a contemporary and light filled sunken dining space.

With a muted colour palette and an emphasis on natural materials throughout, the apartment retains many of its traditional Victorian features, contrasting against parred back contemporary additions. The garden was also extensively redesigned and the property now boasts a vibrant exotic garden, complementing the hand-charred timber cladding of the extension.

Interior design has also been thoughtfully carried out- specifying and designing furniture pieces, reviewing art and lighting, and upgrading existing floor and wall finishes, to ensure the scheme comes together and feels cohesive throughout.
