Lakeside House

Oxford, UK. 2022- present

 

The new owners of a derelict, Grade II listed house set beside a lake in Oxford, approached Studio Hallett Ike with the desire to fully renovate and extend the property to create a multi generational family home.

Being a tricky site set within a flood plain, the project required multi-faceted consideration in order to gain planning approval. The resulting design introduces two single storey contemporary extensions, flanking the restored historic house, as well as a separate garden pavilion and small commercial aspect. 

​

The design ethos remains consistent with other Studio Hallett Ike projects: celebrating the history of the property via a hierarchy of design interventions, with original features celebrated in the period portion of the property and a clean, minimal approach for the contemporary additions.
